Projects CURVED COMPOSITE DECK, SACKVILLE HALIFAX

Curve Appeal

There are always pros and cons to any building material (old or new) on the market; whether you are looking for something which is low maintenance, cost effective or wood vs. man-made, the vast amount of options can often make you feel like you are swimming in a sea of websites, brochures, warranty documents and consumer reviews. The professionals at Archadeck of Nova Scotia have spent a lot of time creating an easy process to get you what you need, without the overwhelming onslaught of information.

When these Sackville, Halifax home owners came to us to design and build a new deck, we listened to their wants and needs and created a custom deck design to satisfy all of them.

With their home being located on one of the many lakes in Halifax, the goal was to keep the new deck casual, comfortable and have some unique aspects. They chose to proceed with composite decking for one main perk: it can be shaped to achieve a rounded shape! The home owners were sold on the design idea.

The grade of the property is quite flat and under the local limit to not require a railing, this ended up being a key factor in maintaining the uninterrupted view of the lake and casual feeling of the deck.

We were sure to incorporate ample space for dining, seating and grilling as the family loves to entertain on their lake front property. Two planters constructed of the composite decking material flank the large picture window and the stairs which effortlessly transitions onto the lawn.

The low maintenance aspect of the composite material was also very appealing to the home owners. Their deck is open and often exposed to the elements, which makes a traditional wooden or pressure-treated deck require a lot of up keep.
